International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development 2016
The International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development 2016 was mandated by the United Nations General Assembly and is held on a yearly basis on December 5. The purpose of this day is celebrating work for the benefit of others, to share the values of volunteering and to promote them within communities, non-governmental organisations, UN agencies, government authorities or in the private sector.
International Day of Disabled Persons 2016
This day was mandated as such by the United Nations General Assembly via resolution 47/3 dating from 1992. It is celebrated annually on December 3. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), over 1 billion people, 15% of the world population live with disability. This day is dedicated to promoting a better understanding of the problems faced by disabled people and to supporting their dignity, rights and wellbeing.

On Tuesday, 29.11.2016, the Ministry of Health launched a public debate the draft of the framework agreement concerning the management of hospitals and the list of performance indicators that should be met by the manager of the public hospital. The project is available here.
NAD and DIOCT. 2 in 1
On Tuesday, 30.11.2016, Raluca Pruna, the minister of Justice presented for Adevarul live the main reasons why the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism was reorganised: “ We made DIOCT, institutionally speaking, exactly what the National Anticorruption Directorate is. And this was done taking into account a wider perspective, given that, in the long run both specialised structures will probably be reunited into one. It remains to be seen how the Romanian society will evolve. An anti-mafia Prosecutor’s Office, concerned both with corruption and organised crime, is a remote objective.”
Discussions regarding the minimum gross wage for 2017
On Monday, 28.11.2016, the representatives of the executive branch discussed with the social partners, within the National Tripartite Council, the level of the minimum gross wage for 2017. A series of amendments were presented and can be found in the draft legislation regarding the unitary pay system. More can be found here
National Day of Romania
The National Day was celebrated in Romania on 1.12.2016. This particular holiday marks an important event: the unification of Transilvania, Basarabia and Bucovina with the Romanian Kingdom, in 1918.
