Dentons hires 10 lawyers in its Bucharest office

Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, has grown its Bucharest office by 40%, with the addition of ten new lawyers, strengthening the key practice areas of M&A, capital markets, banking, real estate and competition/compliance.

Perry Zizzi, Managing Partner and Head of the M&A practice at Dentons Romania: “Despite an unstable and unpredictable 2020, Dentons continues to prioritize Romania as a key market and envisions strong growth in 2021. To satisfy client demand, we aim to further expand key practices and sectors such as tax, dispute resolution, TMT, M&A and others over the next 1-2 years.”

The recruitment campaign is part of the firm’s “Dentons Romania 2.0” strategy, kick-started under Perry Zizzi’s leadership, which focuses on building a strong team and attracting top talent from the market to effectively serve clients’ needs in a rapidly evolving economic climate.

In 2020, Dentons Bucharest grew to have the largest banking practice in the country: 14 attorneys with local, regional and global experience and the only firm with capabilities on the ground in Romanian law, English law and New York law, including market leaders Simona Marin and Simon Dayes. At the start of 2021, the firm also consolidated its M&A practice, having hired Partner Cristian Popescu to join an expanded M&A team of 15 attorneys.

Perry Zizzi: ”With the expanded team in place at Dentons Bucharest, we are well positioned to advise clients in key areas and help them navigate through the uncharted waters that this year will bring. At the same time, we feel confident that Romania presents many opportunities ahead. For 2021, we foresee growth in areas such as logistics, agriculture, renewable energy, as well as venture tech.”
