On Friday, the 19 of February, 2021, the National Agency for Public Procurement and the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) launched in public debate the Guide of Good Practices for the Purchase of Medical Devices.

New provisions regarding the European Public Prosecutor’s Office: Amendment of the Code of Criminal Procedure and of GEO no. 66/2011

It is published in the Official Gazette, Part I no. 167 of the 18 of February , 2021, Law no. 6/2021 on the establishment of measures for the implementation of Council Regulation (EU) 2017 / 1.939 of 12 October 2017 implementing a form of enhanced cooperation on the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).

The law stipulates that whenever the prosecutor, during the criminal investigation, finds elements regarding a crime for which the European Public Prosecutor’s Office could exercise its competence or discovers circumstances that determine the competence of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, it shall immediately inform, via an official address, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, subsequently providing any other information requested by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to establish jurisdiction.

During the settlement of the case by the European Prosecutor’s Office, any request related to the settlement of the case sent to the Romanian judicial bodies will be forwarded, immediately, to the European Prosecutor’s Office, for competent settlement.

On Tuesday, the 16 of February, 2021, the European Commission launched a questionnaire in which stakeholders can contribute to the proposal for a Regulation on the creation and promotion of various IT tools to improve access to justice, simplify and speed up cross-border legal proceedings and reduce costs and administrative burden.
