Bills submitted to the European Commission.
On Monday, the 18th of April, 2022, the Romanian Ministry of Justice submitted new Justice and Criminal code bills to the European Commission, an action taken within the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism.
The finalisation of the projects for the new Justice bills, as well as the projects for the amendment of the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code represent an important milestone in the Government’s Programme, as well as one of the objectives of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism regarding justice, provided in Romania’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. The Romanian Embassy will reopen in Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the 19th of April, 2022, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, has issued an announcement regarding the authorities’ decision to reopen the Romanian Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine. Once all the technical and security preparations are carried out, the Embassy will resume its activity. [source]
Romania’s Digitalisation Degree is at 21%.
On Tuesday, the 19th of April, 2022, the Authority for the Digitalisation of Romania (ADR) has presented its first assessment of the degree of digitalisation of the systems related to life events included in the Public Policy of of e-governance.
The data centralised by the ADR represents a status report of the digitalisation of the public administration of Romania. The data collected represents the level of development in this field in 2020. By 2030, the level of digitalisation ought to be 100%, according to the Digital Compass, the EU’s digitalisation strategy. [source]
European Data Protection Supervisor annual report.
On Wednesday, the 20th of April, 2022, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has issued its annual report for 2021. The report highlights the EDPS’ achievements regarding European Union institutions’ compliance with the data protection framework. The Report also underscores the EDPS’ increasing role in advocating for the respect of privacy and data protection in EU legislation. [source]
