The police will have a maximum of 12 hours to determine one’s identity 

On May 3, 2022, Law no. 122/2022 amending and supplementing art. 36 of Law no. 218/2002 on the organisation and functioning of the Romanian Police, was published in the Official Gazette, Part I no. 431. [source]
The verification of the factual situation and, as the case may be, the taking of legal measures against the person taken to the police headquarters shall be carried out immediately, without exceeding a term of 8 hours from the moment of initiating the trip. If the identity of the person could not be established within 8 hours, this period is extended by the period necessary to establish the identity, verify the factual situation and, as the case may be, take legal action, without exceeding a period of 12 hours from the moment of initiating the trip. The police officer has the obligation to allow the person to leave the police headquarters immediately: after the completion of the activities, even if the stipulated terms have not expired; after the expiration of the 8-hour period, if the person’s identity has been established; after the expiration of the 12-hour period, even if the person’s identity could not be established. Regulation on the organisation and functioning of the Legislative Council

On May 3, 2022, the Regulation on the organisation and functioning of the Legislative Council was published, dated April 29, 2022 in the Official Gazette, Part I no. 429. [source]

The Legislative Council is a specialised consultative body of the Romanian Parliament, which has the task of approving the draft normative acts in order to systematise, unify and coordinate the entire legislation and to keep the official records of the Romanian legislation.

The published regulation establishes the organisational structure of the Legislative Council, the procedure for carrying out the activity of approving the draft normative acts, the forms that can be republished and the requests for rectification of the normative acts, the attributions of the sections and of the other structures. It also establishes measures regarding the organisation of the activity of systematisation, unification and coordination of the legislation, norms regarding the organisation of the official record of the legislation, its computerisation, as well as the elaboration of the Directory of Romanian legislation – official record – and of the official versions of collections of normative acts – codexes, in order to ensure the authenticity of legislative information.
