New Offshore Law
On Wednesday, the 18th of May 2022, the Chamber of Deputies has passed the bill for the amendment of Law no. 256/2018 regarding some necessary measures for the implementation of oil operations by petroleum agreement owners regarding offshore oil perimeters.
This new piece of legislation will allow taxes on future income from offshore oil projects to be reduced, in the hope that potential investment would be attributed to the reserves in the Black Sea. [Source]
COVID-19 recognised as occupational disease
On Wednesday, the 18th of May 2022, the member states, workers and employers of the EU Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work reached an agreement on the need to recognise COVID-19 as an occupational disease in health and social care and in domiciliary assistance and, in a pandemic context, in sectors where there is an outbreak in activities with proven risk of infection, and supported an update of the EU list of occupational diseases. Vehicles on humanitarian missions can be exempted from bridge and road tolls
On Wednesday, the 18th of May 2022, Order no. 496/2022 the amendment and completion of annexes no. 1, 3, 4, 5 to Order of the Minister of Transports no. 1.836/2018 for the approval of fees applied by the National Company for the Administration of Road Infrastructure was published in the Official Journal of Romania, Part I, no. 494 of the 18th of May 2022. Thus, vehicles that transport first aid equipment and humanitarian aid as part of humanitarian missions in action on Romanian territory can be exempted, on demand, from paying bridge and road tolls. European Commission demands that Romania transposes the Renewable Energy Directive

European Commission refers Romania to EU Court of Justice
