RLWeek May 8 – 14, 2023: Updates on the Consumer Code, domestic violence victims, the Sports National Strategy, and clawback contributions

Consumer Code amended.

On May 8, 2023, Law no. 107/2023 amending and supplementing Law no. 296/2004 on the Consumer Code was published in the Official Journal of Romania, Part I, no. 390; the law defines the distribution of consumer goods, and updates the definition of consumer goods distributors. A distributor is an economic operator who distributes goods and who has a title to the sold goods. Goods distribution pertains to the economic sector characterised by the mixed activity of wholesale or the intermediary sale of products, as well as storage and shipping, and merchandising and marketing of goods, based on agreements or practices between two or more economic operators, without affecting the characteristics of the product. Victims of domestic violence to receive child support.

On May 10, 2023, Law no. 114/2023 supplementing art. 38 para. (1) of Law no. 217/2003 for prevention and control of domestic violence, as well as amending art. 4 para. (1) of Law no. 61/1993 on state allowance for children was published in the Official Journal of Romania, Part I no. 402. [source]

National Strategy on Sports for 2023-2024.

On May 10, 2023, the Romanian Government approved the National Strategy on Sports 2023 for 2024. Among the objectives found in the strategy are: the prioritisation of traditional Olympic sports; the creation of a transparent and predictable sports system, focused on priority sports; the decentralisation of sports structures; and financing priority federations based on long-term strategies with final objectives at the Olympics.  [source]

 

Clawback contribution calculation model amended.

On May 10, 2023, the Romanian Government adopted the bill amending and supplementing Emergency Government Ordinance no. 77/2011 amending the calculation model for clawback contributions. [source]
